I had a good childhood growing up with love and happiness.  We didn’t have much money but we had each other. Growing up in the 1950’s was much different than today.  My father worked very hard at a fire extinguisher company and always had to work a half a day on Christmas Eve.  His boss gave him a Christmas bonus that day and it was always $50 which was a lot back then.  One year he received $100 for his Christmas bonus.  He always came home and told my sister, Cynthia, and me to get ready to go to town with him to help him find a Christmas gift for our mother. We always enjoyed going Christmas shopping with him.  After all these years, I still treasure all those memories.  I lost my dad to cancer when I was 25 years old and he was 58.  So many times you never know the good you have until it is gone.
